After
Care
Most
of the christening clothes that we supply are manufactured from
specialist fabrics such as 100% silk or linen and many have intricate
embroidery and finishes. If looked after carefully this garment can become treasured as an heirloom to be worn by future generations.
In order best to preserve the quality of
your potential heirloom, we would recommend that you get your christening
outfit cleaned professionally after the event ideally within several weeks. You should choose a drycleaner specialising in silk garments.
Then your outfit
is best stored wrapped in acid free tissue paper, (not the plastic
cover it came in). Always use acid free paper as the acid will weaken the fabric over time. You should use as large a box as possible and the garment should be folded carefully as little as possible. Folds, the sleeves and bodice should be padded with the acid free tissue.
You should avoid plastic materials as they trap moisture which can lead to mildew; also synthetic and metal items. The outfit should be stored in a cool well ventilated place away from light which can bleach the gown and weaken the fabric.
I am sorry but I am not able to get storage boxes from my suppliers.
Remember
that we are a small family business and customer care is our priority,
so if you have any special requests , feel free to contact us and
we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
